Infrequent morning erections and trouble masturbating

by jp31, Jun 11, 2006 12:00AM
For the past year I have noticed that i rarely wake with an erection anymore. Perhaps 1 day per week I have a morning erection. I have also noticed that my erections aren't as firm as they once were and at times i've had some trouble maintaining. Seems strange but i have noticed the maintaining difference especially during certain positions. Many times as my partner is on top the sensation feels different and my erection fades. Often i even have difficulty masturbating. I am able to be aroused, but many times it fades and my penis is nearly flacid, though i can still ejaculate.

Had all the usual tests. BP is normal. Testosterone too. No diabetes or thyroid issues. Non smoker. Great shape. 32 years old. Could this just be a function of age and normal decline in the penis and how it works or responds? What puzzles me most is the utter lack of morning erections and the difficulty masturbating. A do realize much could be mental at this point, but the morning issue really doesn't seem to fit.

Just an opinion on something you may have overlooked!  Have your cholesteral checked.  That was the problem I had too,  and after getting my 'CH'  under control,  the erections started comming back as before.

How about just life are you stressed, drained from work? Are you in good terms with your partner? Are you in the heat all day? Do you drink? Could it be environmental factors in your home? Are you active like such as running and working out? let us know Kali

Since you asked, i have been under more stress than any other point in my life over the past 2 years. Anxiety is my thing. No longer drink at all, and haven't for a number of months. I work out 4-5 times a week which includes cardio.

You really think that correlates with the "morning" issues?

ps--thanks for ur ??

Silly hit the nail on the head.   Stress.... Will kill emotions....Also,  are you big on caffeine.  Too much coffee,  sodas,  keeping you wired>>???  just another thought.

                   good luck again,   CDK

running doesn't make you not have morning hard on's it helps. If you run that much you should be very healthy. I agree with the other poster. Caffenine has the affect of making you wired then a hard fall down on energy. Keep up the running and working out. Keep up on not drinking that's great to hear! Try doing yoga for your stress. Talk walks in the woods to relax your mind. Alway's make time for yourself your body and mind isn't worth loosing for other people. Kali

I will definitely keep at it. I like the yoga suggestion.

To answer your other question....nope, i do not consume caffiene.

Stress could be the culprit.

Thank ya.

I have noticed very recently I have not been getting morning erections?  I read the posts.  I do drink caffeine frequently and I have a great deal of stress.  I notice that I have become a heavy sleeper.  Should I go see a urologist?

> Should I go see a urologist?

At this point there is no reason to. You mostly have to manage your stress and cut caffeine down. Then observe how things evolve.

i'm having the exact same problems.  i run, exercise frequently ... no health problems.  last health screening/blood tests were all normal.  maybe i need to cut out the caffeine?  any other suggestions?  i'm ready to give up and head to a urologist, but i'd rather not if there's a simple explanation.

no doubt  stress..anxiety. I had problems w/erections and ejaculation. I read and discovered there was a connection between my stress and performance. I also feel better w/boxers than briefs..alot better when silk

If you are healthy in everything, then I see no other cause than stress and caffeine. Stress in particular can do much damage, hopefully temporary, until you start managing well the condition. Excess in caffeine consumption can too have adverse effects, since it alters the blood circulation in the body.
