Wow...found this site after a Google search--add one more victim to the list. A few days ago I began experiencing a feeling like a flush of warmth on my left shin several times a day.  Never experienced anything like it before.  I am 53, female.  I move around a lot although I gave up working out several months ago after an elbow injury (dumb excuse), follow a healthy diet, take no vitamins (also dumb), taking Zocor to control cholesterol and a wimpy dose of Welbutrin.  I also have had an extremely stiff/painful neck/shoulders the last week or so.  At first I worried that the leg sensation was attributable to a clot; I have flown several long-distance flights (5-9 hours each) over the last 7 weeks although I did wear compression socks on my return home from overseas. I am beginning to think, however, that this leg-warmth condition is nerve-related.  After a previous bout with neck/shoulder/arm pain, my doc said she was sure it was nerve-related but because of my family history sent me to a cardiologist.  Nothing wrong, and the symptoms went away.  Now that the neck/shoulder stiffness is back, I wonder if the leg-warmth thing is a result.  Also, years ago I worked for a chiropractor--amazing what weirdness the body goes through due to nerve interference. After I check in with my doctor (last appt. was in April, perfect lab results, etc.) to see what she has to say, I think it's time to find a good chiropractor.  Anyway, thanks to all who posted here...it's comforting to know I'm not (totally) crazy!

Amazing hoax. How many comments does it take to get into the Guiness Book?

Well first off Trialanderror, You are a jerk for making fun of a serious problem that many of us are going through.  Do you think it's fun for us making appointments to see neurologists and having spinal taps done.  You are  a *******.
I got a referal to a neurologist, and have a MRI in sept.    I have noticed hair on my legs has begun to fall out, I can't say for sure if it's related to this  strange  warm feeling ot not.
I had more blood work done today,,, I may know something more by friday.

I agree with you on Trialanderror.    First off with a comment such as yours Trialanderror, what are you doing in a forum such as this.  You must have been totally bored or SOMETHING!  Second, does anyone know how I can get my address off of here and change my name - I allowed Google to auto fill and didn't even notice that it took over my nickname :o(  qpalzm, I have been experiencing hair lose off my head for several years.  The doctor feels it aims back to the thyroid and thankfully it grows back, just to fall out again, but it grows back :o)   Funny you should mention lose of leg hair, I have hardly none at all.  I wonder if that is a co-incidence of connection? Best of lluck at your tests  - to everyone - at least if something shows up - we know what we're dealing with and treat it, hopefully.  But until then, it's a basket of banana's for me.

Not being one for forums, I had to write a posting for this one.  I have been complaining for months about the weird warm sensation in my left leg.  This site finally gave me something to prove to my girlfriend that I am not crazy.  I have decided that mine is from crossing my leg.  I often pull my left leg up, and put the left ankle on my right knee.  I think this causes reduced blood flow which eventually flows freely and causes the sensation.  I have a history of problems with my left knee and it often aches like an old sports injury.  I have decided the warm sensation is indicative of that problem.  I have also recently discovered that nearly all my family is on medication for thyroid problems and having noticed that brought up numerous times on this page perhaps it is time to get my checked.

This is not what I was looking for but it's definitely something I've experienced so I read most of it and have decided to post too. I had originally Googled: "left hip hurt upper thigh numb" and this site showed up as one choice. I had giving up on getting help or finding anyone else who had the same water down the leg sensation. I think it's odd that in such a long post, there are few who found any help at all and none who are sure they know the cause or how to help it and none who have found anything that completely ended the sensations. Mine have stopped. They'd gone down my left leg intermittently in a trickle or a rush. After the rushing water feeling I expected to find my ankles and feet flushed from a flow of blood inside the leg because that was the only explanation I could imagine for the feeling, but they were always normal. Now that the water sensation has stopped I have a constant pain in my left hip area, about midway between the end of my spine and my waist, and about midway from my spine to the end of my hip bones. My right thigh is numb. I think a pinched nerve in my hip and/or spine, is the more likely cause but if so, we should see many of the people who originally posted in 2006 also reporting sensation of the sensation and numbness and/or pain somewhere. It really IS good to see we're not alone in this experience, but it's weird to have so few posts about changes in the condition, solutions or improvement. Maybe we'll get some answers or more clues at this post, eventually, but it's helped me to know I'm not the only one struggling to get answers. Doctors can make me feel like giving up. These posts give me hope. I look forward to hearing from earlier posters and reading more psots about changes in the condition. Thanks to you all.

Thank goodness I have found this site.  I've been to doctors and have gotten no answers to the problem.  My sensation is in the left leg and it feels like the leg is on fire.  I'm now having problems with walking and the pain shoots down the leg.

Update on my situation...the warm flush sensations on my left shin have stopped as of a few days ago.  This also coincides with a noticeable inprovement in the stiffness/pain in my neck and shoulders, although I continue to have reduced mobility in my neck, side-to-side.  At least the worst pain is gone, and the leg-warmth sensations as well.  If they return I'll take more agressive action.  I'm pretty convinced this is a nerve-interference problem (at least in my situation).  I have not seen my doctor because the sensations have stopped, although I still am on the hunt for a good chiropractor.

Oh, and this note to Trialanderror: Buzz off, buddy.

Hi everyone..... I've posted a few times before but wanted to give you an update.  My symptoms started with the warm feeling in my left thigh, progressed to an altered sensation of hot/cold with my entire left side from just beneath my bra to my feet.  If I was in a hot shower my right side would feel warm and my left side would feel cool. I then became numb on my left side, with pain around my waist and lower left side of my abdomen I had MRIs of my brain and thoracic area, a CT scan of my abdomen and pelvis, and an EMG.  These all came back normal. I also had a test called an "evoked potential".  This came back abnormal, showing an impedance in the nerves in the thoracic area.  I have two more tests scheduled and will get back to you with the results.
This started in June right after I had a severe sinus infection and I was moving (very stressful).  Many of the symptoms have gone away, however some of the heat/cool sensations still linger and some numbness in my side.  As of now, my neurologist feels that I either had a virus in my spinal column (transverse myelitis) or I have some sort of demyelinating illness.  I know that this is a lot of information, but maybe it will help someone figure this out. Good luck to you all.  Keep us posted with anything you find out.
