lacelike radiodensity

by CDemoors, May 09, 2007 12:00AM
I brought my daughter in for an examination due to pain in her leg.  She had an x-ray done.  The findings were "There is some focal faint lacelike radiodensity projected posterior to the proximal fibular physis." We had more x-rays this time by an oblique view.  She is tired all the time and complains of a constant sore stomach and her leg hurts more in the evening.  Some days she can't even go to school, other days she seems fine. Could this be cancer or some other problem?

Hi,

Call the doctor who ordered the films and ask him/her for a complete explanation - in lay terminology.  He or she should be willing to explain the findings to you until you have a complete understanding.  I suggest you call and schedule an appointment for a telephone call to discuss the X-ray report/results. This way the doctor will have time to review all the necessary information and should be able to answer your questions.  Make a list of all your questions ahead of time and go through them with your daughter's doctor.

You might also try faxing your questions ahead of time - which will give the doctor time to formulate complete answers to each of your questions.
