My nurse called today and said the doctors met and discussed my upcoming cycle. I was wondering if any of you ladies going through IVF have had assisted hatching? The nurse said the doctor feels we should do this and I was upset cause my husband sperm count is not low and I am 34 years old , I know this sounds dumb but I just felt he wanted to do it on us because maybe we dont have a good chance. I am very negative person. Is hatching a good thing or what what do you think?
I have heard of it and never had it done, but I was thinking
that maybe they just want to ask you before they do it. Maybe they won't need
to do it, but they need your consent before they do it....so this may be why. It is an added expense, so they have to ask..... I think they are just being cautious!!! Good Luck to you!!!
thankyou I just looked it up on the internet and it said alot of clinics do hatching on all there patientsKidney diet - dialysis patients cause it increases chances of sucess with IVF and the nurse told me that since we are paying out of pocket they wanted to give us the best possible cycle as possible. Thanks and let me know how yours goes best of luck to you.
I have had two ivfs and am getting ready for ivf #3 soon. I have had one cycle without assisted hatching and one with assisted hatching. I too am 34 years old. I ended up pregnant both times but lost both pgs around 6 weeks. The second cycle, AS was added to hopefully make it easier for the embie to implant.
Some clinics alwyas do AS for ivf cycles as part of their protocol. This may be the case for your clinic. The process is supposed to make it easier for your embies to attach and implant. For many women, especially for older women (of which we are not!), this is helpful because the outer shell of the egg can be thick and make it harder for an embie to implant. Have you had a previous ivf cycle? Maybe your doctor simply wants to optimize your chances.
I personally believe that if there is something that may increase your chances of success even a tiny little bit, you should go for it. Ivf is so costly, and by the time a person gets to ivf, she has already been through so much, it might be worth the extra money to get to success!
Thankyou so much you seem to know a whole lot about this. I hope you are on this site again what you said makes a big difference. I hate to hear you have had to go through this twiceTwice-a-day. that had to be very hard for you.I cant imagine what it would be like to actually get your hopes up over being pregnant and then being let down. I dont know if this will help but I know a woman around our age that got pregnant twiceTwice-a-day naturally and had a miscarriage both times. On the third try she got pregnant and now has a babyBabies and heat rashes Baby feeding patterns girl . Good luck
I had assisted hatching done because there was a thickening on the egg. It worked because I am now pregnant with twins! I was told that it does increase your chances too. I of course thought it was a bad thing when they told me they had to do it, but it's definitely good. Good luck!
