Finally..Hello Injections and ? on antral follicle count

by babysomeday, May 12, 2007 12:00AM
Hello all...I read a lot of posts and post here and there, but no sure who all on here knows me, or remembers me, but last cycle I was suppose to start my injections and I had a huge cyst on my right ovary and was unable to start them up. I went in yesterday for my day 3 U/S and no cysts :) YIPPY I started injections yesterday, I am SOOO excited. I also had my Dr. do an antral follicle count, I was scared b/c I have already been diagnosed with diminished ovarian reserve and they say with the AFC that anything under 4 is not good, so I almost didn't ask, but did and I have 11 :) I was SOO happy about that. So that means I have 11 follies that can try to get stimulated this round. She said that the AFC changes every month. So please pray that this is my month :)

I see a lot of you out there got BFP...congrats to you all..I hope this trend sticks around for everyone :)

It is possible to get more follies than they count for the antral count. Happened to me three times! Hopefully that can happen for you, too.

Good luck!

Hello. I am glad to hear from you. What medicine are you on. I was on Menopur last mont and responded very well, but no succes. This month I am just on BCPs, because decided to go for IVF. I have appt with RE to discuss our options. I hope this month is yours. Keep trying, we will get our BFPs one day. Good luck.

I am a "poor responder," a term that I hate. Highest fsh was 13 at 34 years old.

IVF #1 - antal count 5 --got 6 eggs, all fertilized, transferred 2 on day 4, froze 1 blast = pg (mc at 6 weeks) I was oversurpressed this cycle with the lupron. Haven't been on it since.

IVF #2 - antral count 6 --got 9 eggs, 8 fertilized, transferred 4 on day 4, 0 frozen = pg (mc at 6 weeks)

testing was done - found blood clotting problems

IVF #3 - antral count 7 --got 10 eggs (2 immature), 7 fertilized, transferred 6 on day 4, 0 frozen = pg (keeping fingers crossed that the blood thinner meds will be the thing that helps here)

Does that help? It isn't like I had so many follies that they miscounted, either. You should see that you make a few more than you initially see on the ultrasound. If I can do it, certainly you can too! Good luck!

I had the same thing happen to my. Last month I was suppose to start injections but I had a cyst on my left ovary and this month on day 3 of my cycle they did an u/s and no cyst. I started my injection just this week. I have to say that it was the hardest thing I had to do. I was freaking out having dh do it so I am doing it myself and it is not too bad. My last u/s was on Friday and they said I had a total of 9 follicles. They also took blood and called my that afternoon and told my my estergon was too high and lowered my dosage for the injections. I have no idea what too high estergon can do but I guess it could be bad b/c they lowered my meds.

Shishka-Good luck with the IVF...I would love to do that, but we can't afford it right now. I really hope it works for you and you get your BFP :) I am on Gonal-F, she started me at a high dose, 225 IU's days 3 & 4, then 150 days 5 & 6 then U/S blood work on day 7 to tell me my next dosage :) Good luck and please keep me posted :)

Baby1234-Thank you for that info that is great info :) I wish you all the luck with the BFP glad they found your clotting issue, too bad they couldn't have found it sooner. What tests did they do to find it? I had a cardiolipin antibody test done and I am in the "grey" zone, basically a low positive, said I don't need injections, but baby asprin. I will let you know how many good follies I have, I go in for U/S on Tuesday. Although, since I am not doing IUI or IVF, they don't always tell me my total follies, just my few that are leading.

summer06-What cycle day are you on? what injections are you taking? I was scared at first, but so far it was ok, I freak out with needles. I inject it in me so slow tho...I will get better :) I never feel the medicine go in me. Good luck... I hope we both get BFP :)

Good luck to all of you :) and thank you for the reply :)

Today is day 7. I go to the RE on day 9 for another round of u/s and blood work. I am on Gonal and Lupron. My dr started me at 175 on gonal for 2 days and then I went down to 75 and on Friday they told me to take 37.5 for the weekend b/c my estogen levels were too high. On Monday they will tell what dosage to take next. The Lupron I take .5 everyday.
Are you doing IUI along with the injections? What day are you at with your injections?

Good morning! What is the lupron for? Does it help stimulate them more? Too high of estrogen levels would mean your heading to OHSS and you don't want that. So yeah, that is good they are lowering your dose, I am worried about that for me for the high dose I am on! Today I am on day 5, so you are on 8 right? you are a few days ahead of me. I go in on Tuesday and Thursday for my day 7 and 9 U/S and blood work and I will post back on here what they say. Make sure to come back and post me about your appt Monday :) I am not doing IUI, we don't have the money, my insurance pays for the meds but not procedures! Are you doing IUI? have you done it before?

by summer06, May 13, 2007 12:00AM
I think Lupron is suppose to stimulate things. I go in on Monday for bloodwork and an u/s and I will let you know how it goes. My ins. will pay for 6 IUI so we are going for it. We were suppose to do 3 cycles of injections and time intercouse first b4 IUI BUT my prescription plan suddenly told my RE office that I can only have 3 cycles of meds. I called them and the RE office will call my prescription company back and plead my case. My dh doesn't want to do the IUI just yet. He just doesn't want to do his thing in the RE office. Have you had any side effects from the injections? I think I have had them all: headachs, night sweats, mood swings (mainly very weepy), stomach pain (only about and hour or so after the shots).

by babysomeday, May 13, 2007 12:00AM
Well good luck tomorrow!! I wish my insurance paid for IUI's..they are $800 at my RE's office. I haven't had any side effects from the injections so far, just a tiny bit of soaness at the injection site, but no biggie :)
Let me know how it goes tomorrow :) Good luck!!!
