ovarian dermoid tumor

by french, Sep 30, 2003 12:00AM
I have a sister, 36 yrs old, good health, 2 children, went for yearly exam, ultra sound revealed a dermoid tumor in one ovary, only symptom pain during period.  MD recommended removing ovary and then depending on pathology hystorectomy.  What is the chance of this being a benign or malignant tumor  and if malignant what is the recommended treatment/therapy?  Thank you for your time.

I'm 24 and recently discovered that I have a dermoid tumor on my  right ovary . I have been referred to a specailist, there is also a fibroid. My aunt passed away from ovarian cancer and my mom had cervical cancer, what are mt chances of having children , if any?

I was diagnosed with a dermoid tumor on my left ovary 2/02, had surgery 3/02 (was too large to be removed laproscopic) and my son was born 5/03!  He will be 7 months old tomorrow.  I started trying to get pregnant 7/02 b/c I was scared that I would not be able to or that I would develop a dermoid on the right ovary.  I got pregnant 3 months later.  Everything is fine after the ovary and fallopian tube is removed.  My OB/GYN assured me that you are able to have children with one ovary.  I felt better than I have in a long time after "the bad" ovary was removed.  I still get a worried that I will get another dermoid.  VERY PAINFUL and I worry that I may not see the signs before it is too late, like I did before.  I hope this helps!  Good luck.  Let me know how it all works out for you!
