fluid in culdesac

by kuss, Dec 12, 2005 12:00AM
I had a historectomy last year. I have been experiencing pain on my right pelvic area. I had a ct scan done and it showed fluid in the culdesac. Can this be ovarian Cancer?? I see my doc. on friday for biopsy.

A transvaginal ultrasound would show this better.  It could be cystic materail from your ovary(supposisng that you still have them).

Yes, I still have my ovaries. Ct scan showed nothing wrong with my ovaries. Could this mean there are still problems with my ovaries??  Thanks so much kuss

Yes, your ovaries continue to function even if your uterus has been removed.   It is possible that you had an ovarian cyst that ruptured, causing pain and fluid. There are actually a number of conditions, including liver illnesses like hepatitis, that can cause excess fluid in the lower abdomen.
