I have been infertile for 9 almost 10 years due to PCOS. I have 1 child and now I have a 10cm cysts on my ovary. My doctor says I have had the cyst for some time. I too asked that question and was told that the cyst itself has no bearing on Ovarian Cancer. The missed periods that are thickening the walls of the uterus can cause abnormal cells. Those in turn can turn cancerous.

Non cancerous cysts do not turn into cancerous cysts no matter how long they sit in there.
