Back from Gyno, diagnosed Polycystic Ovarian Disease

by painpaingoaway, Mar 09, 2006 12:00AM
So I had my follow up appt. with my gyn about 2 hours ago. About 2 weeks ago I took a blood test to see if I had PCOS. My insulin, estrogen, androgen, and pcos hormones were evaluated.  She told me that my insulin levels were normal, I have way too much of the male and female hormones(that explains my big boobs she says) haha, and she diagnosed me with Polycystic Ovarian Disease so she detected a lot of the PCOS hormone. I asked her if there was anything she could do to see if I possibly had endo since I have all the symptoms and a family history. She said she wouldn't rule it out, but again my age (I am 20) got in the way of finding out. So she didn't feel any cysts on my ovaries today during the pelvic exam. I haven't felt them either, they must have all ruptured a couple days ago. So she actually listened and is willing to do a U/S on the 13th of this month. She never told me no you don't have endo, but she did say that if I do have it, it is probably microscopic. She believes that I am in excruciating pain but she wouldn't give me any pain meds, due to my young age and the possibility of addiction since I will have this pain for god knows how long. I told her that I understand her point of view but that it isn't fair for me to go through this. She also said something about checking my bowels and back out for pinched nerves possibly if she doesn't find anything on the U/S. So I have to wait a couple days! I hope this pain subsides a little til then. Thanks for taking the time to read my experience! If you have any advice or suggestions please let me know!

Not to "steal" you away from this forum, but there is an Ovarian Cyst forum on this site. There are quite a few ladies that have had similar experiences on that forum and you may get more answers.. There is also a section called "Health Pages " at the top right which may give you a lot of information. That way you can visit both forums..
