another oral question

Early October I performed Oral sex on a male of unknown status. He did ejaculate and I swallowed. This was a one time incident. I also was in the midst of recieving a root canal and had just temporary cotton filling as I was having alot of draining from the procedure. End of December i awoke 3 nights in a row with flashes a little sweaty in the folds,ie under breast back of neck etc, never was I drenched with sweat. This has happened every month since then (seemingly right before my period), have not had a fever at all, i check numerous times. I am almost going insane and am trying to convience myself that I am fine, and I have read numerous posts on this sight. My fear is the possibility of being infected through the tooth. Does this sound possible? I have only read about gums disease and open sores in lining of mouth. Your input is greatly appreciated.

How is oral a possible transmission?  Saliva not only doesn't carry HIV, it KILLS it.  Where are there documented cases of oral transmission?  Maybe those people forgot to add they were getting nailed up the but and shooting heroin at the same time.

Confused about HIV risk-There are documented cases of HIV being transmitted via oral sex.

Octoberfright-I know how you feel, I had the same 'risk' but without ejaculation which makes it a lot less likely I could have been infected but all the same, if you are a person who is worried by HIV, no matter how many times people tell you over and over that you had no real risk the thought is always there in the back of your mind.
So my only advice to you is to get tested, put your mind at rest! Believe me it isn't worth worrying over, I have done so for the past 6 months and it is making life hell. I have finally got a test booked for next Tuesday and so my anxiety levels will probably now soar through the roof but at least I will now know! Get tested, good luck, although I am positive you will not need it. x

Oh and the night sweats will surely be related to menstruation. I always get one or two nights of night sweats right before my period.

You really should get tested. Nothing you have mentioned suggests that you could have HIV but because you need to put your mind at rest!
I've had so many symptoms including swollen nodes diagnosed by a doc, you haven't had any other than these night sweats which are easily, easily explained away from HIV.

You have nothing to loose, get your test, don't do what I did and leave it so long for your anxiety to spiral out of control, you will make yourself sick. x

Thanks so much uk girl! I went to hospital the other night and the doctor prescribed meds for anxiety. Took 2 last night and slept like a baby!!! Also had my period when I woke up! Still have some chills and tingling in hands and feet.( I also had that back in Sept as well). I just know I have so much too lose, I have a wonderful husband and children, and I made a STUPID decision when we were going through a very rough time! I still can't bring myself to get tested, it makes me ill just thinking about it. I understand how low my risk was and I never had any ars symptoms such as fever or swollen gland(checked by doc) or rash etc,and I am pretty sure these bouts of over heating started too late to be ars! I do believe I am severely suffering from HIV anxiety but then there always has to be that one in the odds. This would definetly be a documented 1st of oral only. Thanks for your understanding, I too am starting to believe it is related to pms(documenting everything). Let me know how you make out on your test.
God Bless

I don't think there has ever been a documented case of HIV through oral sex.  I think I'm going to submit to Webster's the term 'HIV paranoia' be added to the dictionary, as I think there are a huge amount of sufferers.

HIV paranoia (n.) 1. An extremely severe mental anxiety disorder, often arising from guilt, that one has contracted HIV, even though the risks of contracting the disease through behavior conducted are less than of getting hit by lightning.

Hi there,
It is highly, highly unlikely that you were infected from this incident and your symptoms are unworrisome in relation to HIV.
Yes, your unfinished root canal work would have provided a route of transmission, but not an efficient one. HIV is very, very rarely transmitted via oral sex.
Nothing I am saying here should be freaking you out. However, if you are anxious, now would be a good time to test. The chances are your partner did not have HIV. But by all means, get tested and expect a negative result:)
