Hi Gail... have you had a lymph node removed from your pelvic area? How did the operation go? I'm wondering as I also have a cancerous node, in my left groin area, but my Surgeon wouldn't remove it, as he said it was laying over the main artery, and he didn't want to put me at risk. I would be interested to hear your comments on this. I have swelling in my ankles and wrists, but I've just completed 7 treatments of Taxotere/Caroplatin, and my Oncol. said that the Taxotere is notorious for that, and it should recede soon.
I hope you are well though... hugs...Helen..

Hi, I am doing well and hope that you are also.  I have been on Doxil for over a year now and my tumor is still the same size 2 cm.  I want it to just go away complexly.  I had some swollen nodes but I think they are normal now.  I am really not sure about the lymph node removal my doc was out of town on Tuesday when I went in to have my treatment and they would not give it to me because of the swelling.  The lymph node removal was told to me by the nurse practitioner who takes my doc place when he is not in the office.  I will have to ask him about it when he returns.  I know that one of the Doxil side effects is peripheral edema (foot, leg and/or ankle swelling and I am leaning toward this rather than lymph node removal.  I have always had skinny legs and you should see them now.  There are jus big and beautiful.  I can were shorts now but I have these ugly leg ulcer that are not healing and getting bigger.  My feet is really the problem because I can’t were shoes.  I go in for treatment on Wednesday and I will ask my doctor about the lymph node removal.  You I want to know everything with what is going on with me.  But sometimes doctors do not want to tell patients everything but this was my old doc and I have a new one now.  My old doc was the one who did my surgery with my first recurrence which was in 2005, but he retired soon after this.

God Bless and please keep the Faith because this is truly a demon that we are dealing with

Hi again Gail.. and thankyou for your note. I've had Doxil too, but only 4 shots. It worked really well, but my Oncol. took me off it mainly because of the many large and very sore mouth ulcers that I had from it. The only side affect. You are right.. this is truely a demon we are dealing with. Since I've been on the Taxotere/Carbo, the lymph node has reduced in size considerably, and my Oncol. seems to think that it's an isolated case, as he doesn't feel that there are any other nodes involved, so that's good. If this cancer can be controlled with the various chemos, then we can go on for years if it's being treated like a chronic disease. I've met a lady who has survived 16 years, after being dx Stage 4 and not expected to go beyond 3 months after her operation... and another of my Oncol. patients, who has been treated 'off and on' with chemo for 12 years, and still going, so these cases do give us hope.
My Surgeon won't go in again... and I've had 3 others agree with him, so I just have to rely on the chemo to keep it check for me.... and it seems to be going o.k. so far.
It's a pest when you need to change Doctors, but sometimes it's good to get another opinion on the situation.
I wish you all the best Gail... and let's know how you are doing.
Have a nice weekend.. and hopefully some sunny days. It's Winter here now.
Hugs...Helen...
