when for debulking surgery

I was diagnosed with stage IV after exploratory surgery in April.  Just finished my 3rd round of Taxol-carboplatin.  ca125 went from 380 to 9.  My Oncologist says I will have debulking surgery after the 6th cycle... why the difference in opinions in when the surgery is performed... some early some late.  I am a 57 year old type 1 diabetic....

I have noticed that surgery is based on the amount of masses, sizes, location etc.  Some people have chemo first in hopes of shrinking and localizing the masses so that there is a better chance of getting everything at the time of debulking surgery.

Thanks for posting.  I am a Las Vegas Native who retired here in Costa Rica.  My medical care has bar none been the best I have ever received.  My kid brother is a chemo specialist nurse in Seattle and he said my care could not be better at any cancer center in the United States... He did think though they always did debulking first... so glad you answered my question...
