what to expect after removal of large benign cyst

by Kaerbear, Jul 08, 2007 12:00AM
I am just wondering if there is anyone who has had a large ovarian cyst removed.  i had a 30 cm serous cyst adenoma removed along with my ovary and fallopian tube when i was 22 weeks pregnant.  the doctors told me i must have had the cyst for over 5 years or so because of the size of it.  it weighed 20 pounds and was filled with 6 litres of fluid. i'm 31 years old now and 38 weeks pregnant with my first baby.  for as long as i can remember i had irregular, long cycles with painful cramps and heavy bleeding for about 7 days.  sometimes i would skip a period altogether but i never made the connection, i just thought it was from stress.  i wasn't sexually active and wasn't on birth control.  when i did go on b/c for a few years before i got pregnant, my cycles eventually became pretty normal.  i also kept having to be tested for hypothyroidism because i had an overactive thyroid but i was never diagnosed because they said it was borderline and not bad enough to medicate.  i am just wondering if there is any relation between those symptoms and having a large cyst like this.  i am just really curious as to what changes i will notice when i return to my regular, non-pregnant state.  i have to wait, possibly until i am done breastfeeding to find out what has changed so i'm dying of curiosity.  is there anyone who has had a similar sized mass removed that can fill me in?
