Smelly yellowish pellets coming up from chest/throat

For years now I've asked this question of  many doctors/dentists and it still remains to be answered...Quite frequently I get really bad breath for around a week which is followed by expulsion of very hard, yellowish in colour, very smelly pellets from my throat and/or chest. Sometimes it is followed by a bad sinus infection and /or bronchitis, but not always! It is very unpleasant and I would just love to get rid of this problem. I should also mention that I've had phlegm non-stop in my throat for as long as I can remember, I don't know if this could possibly be associated with this condition/problem...I am not a smoker/nor do I live in a smoke-filled environment.

I've never had these stinky pellets before until I got pregnant (1st baby) and right about my 1st trimester I started getting sinus, stuffy nose, and phlegm problems. I'm also lactose intolerance and hate diary products, but since i got pregnant, i needed my calcium, so I started drinking 3-4 cups/day lactose-free milk and eating more dairy products.

2 months into my pregnancy, I started coughing up stinky pellets (2-3 times/week). I was worried it could be cholesterol or stone issue cause a friend of mine used to cough up stinky pellets and it turned out she had gallbladder stones. When the stones were removed from her gallbladder, she said it smell and look just like these stinky pellets. This freaked me out cause the last thing I want is gallbladder stone while pregnant. After finding this site, I'm more relief. Maybe its not related to gallbladder stones. Maybe its tonsiliths. I'm definitely changing my diet to less diary products and drinking more water after meals. I'm hoping after this baby, my sinus problem and the stinky pellets will go away.

Anyone heard of stinky pellets related to gallbladder stones? How come they dont teach this in medical school? Why is my doctor clueless? Even my pharmacy and nursing friends have no clue.

I get these alot. I've figured out that if you can see them...press directly below them in an upward sort of motion and they should pop up and out.

i also have four tonsils by the way. (i hope u got my last message )so it would make complete sense for me to get lil things stuck in them and then have them rot. but it started after that really bad marijuana experince.. hmm... maybe that caused the sinus infection, and i just havent been able to recover yet.

ive had thesame thing. it stated ever since one night were me and a few friends had way too much marijuana, sorta greened out.. anyways that was like 5 months ago . . . and the "phlegm" things were like realy bad in the beginning. every week id cough those little ***** up. i dnt know why but i thought it was to do with the minor dehydration i had also accumulated after smoking that sick weed. bleh (havent taken any weed since btw) ... so i just started drinking lots and lots of water. and they cleared up pretty good. and every time they come back. i just drink alot again and wont see them for a couple of months. water though. not juice or anything, and by a lot i mean 6-8 pints a day or something. i havent tried anything else, or put much thought to it, because it cleared up so fast. and that phlemg feeling in the back of the throatgoes with it too. so it probably is a sinus infection but fr me, water clears it up.

I've also had them for many years. One way to help prevent them is to stay hydrated with plenty of fluids while eating to ensure your mouth isn't full of food and not enough liquid to wash it down. Also try gargling daily with Listerine,as it kills most of the bacteria from the tonsoliths that get stuck and aids in them dissolving away( which prevents you from even knowing they exist).

i've had these all my life since i was a child. they usually come from both tonsils somtimes five times a week. i found a way to open my mouth as wide as possibe, use my index fingers to pop em out. in the first week of december last year, i went n a fruit and fluid fast for a week. had nothing but fruit and fluid, mainly pineapple and water. during that time i did not see a single pellet come out, but was able to press as before and have a little stinky liquid ooze out. i have since had a can of [20 oz] pineapplein its own juice [plain label walmart] every morning and no longer have the pillets. 7 weeks to date. there must be something in the pineapple that cleanses your body cos i dont get bumps on my face either, + i notice much clearer complexion

I have also had these foul smelling little bastards and never knew what they were, I am SO glad Im not alone.  I thought it would be something ill too.  But now I have a lump on my throat as well, a hard one that when I swallow it feels like Im getting scratched, whats up with that?  I've never been to a doctor but have a constant runny nose and cough, plus I have to swallow all the time and it takes me forever to get to sleep because of this.  Any ideas for me?

Haha... Who knew I could successfully google "stinky hard balls from the throat" and end up with all of you!

I have had this problem since 1995 and never knew what it was!  It doesn't happen on a regular schedule for me...just out of nowhere I'll kinda feel something at the top of my throat - much like if a popcorn husk gets stuck - and I make a horrible coughing/hacking sound and poof the ball appears, normally. Yesterday, I yelled at my daughter and out came a cluster of them.  There were maybe 8 to 10 of them and man did they SMELL!  I am not good with gross or smelly things, but I can't help but always smash these balls and take a whiff.  I totally grossed my husband out yesterday! haha  They are just so dang weird.  I am almost 40 so I am sure my ENT will not even consider getting my tonsils out, but I am going to try.  I have horrible sinus problems to begin with, maybe no adenoids and no tonsils will help!

Good luck to us all.

ive had this problem for about 6 or so years since my early 20s. had a history of sore throats and allergies shots as a child (oh boy) our tonsils are part of our immune system. our parnets generation had them removed. where do u suppose those tonsils went? im sure whatever problem we are having now was created with our parents tonsils in labs. just like the mad cow came after all the "alien" mutilations

Hi,
I am so happy to had a mind to Google  this problem in regards to Whitish-yellowish at time pellets that are coughed up.  I am no smoker nor have I ever been.  At home no smoking is in the house to anyone visiting!  I never had this problem in the past. I am grateful to receive all of the "gold" of  information & suggestions.  Thank you!   I know of Tonsils yes but, I  have not known what part of the mouth that you'd actually push on. Wow!   Is that  OK to do?  Someone mentioned how they pushed and pushed until it came out.  Are you referring to somewhere it the top of the mouth perhaps past the pallet of your mouth.  Like down your throat or something.

These things are awful!!! I just googled "pellets in throat" and found you all. I've suffered for a few years from these dreaded, awful smelling things. I've never smoked so I don't think that has a darn thing to do with it. I've always gotten sore throats, swollen tonsils, etc. I'm wondering if the answer is to just get my tonsild removed. I'm 31 years old. Does anyone know how/why important it is to keep the tonsils?? Do I really need them back there?

I have had the same issues as you all....the little mysterious white/yellow balls from my throat.  to add to it I think I may have PND (Post Nasal Drip).  So I stopped having dairy about 6 weeks ago. and haven't had one of those little balls for about last 4 weeks?  It's been great! But I love my cheese so I am suffering, but will eventually reintroduce it VERY slowly to see what happens.  No dairy is great for that but still hasn't helped my excessive mucus problem.  Must keep trying though.  Thanks for posting.... like you all..it's nice to know you are not as Freakish as you think you are!! lol.
