fluoroquinolones and nsaids

by floxie, Jun 19, 2006 12:00AM
I took levaquin for 10 days and had an adverse reaction. I was not informed about the drug interaction between nsaids and levaquin.  I had insomnia, still have depression, tinnitus, tendon pain, taste distortion, some hearing loss and this feeling of depersonization.  Some thing s are better.  The pharmacy didn't warn me about the drug interaction and now they said to get a lawyer because the interaction would have only given me problems during the first day or 2 of being on the medicine.  I don't believe that and I'm have a problem getting information to prove otherwise.  Please help me.

You can look online for drug side effects, or your medication should have come with some information on the drug.  The pharmacy sometimes labels the bottle with a caution label.  Did they know you were taking nsaids at the same time?  Your doctor really should've been the one to let you know about the adverse reactions.

Levaquin has been known to cause these kinds of reactions, however, most people can take it just fine with no side effects.  The bad taste in mouth usually goes away on its own, once the medication clears your system.  I'm not familiar enough with the other side effects to offer any help.  You can google "levaquin side effedts" and find out all the info you want.  However, be careful, and remember not to believe everything you read.

The best advice, always familiarize yourself with your medication before you take it.  Read the insert you get with the prescription, and always let someone (pharmacist or doc) know before you take anything in conjunction with a prescription med.\

Hope you find some info that helps.
