Numbess, fuzzy head feeling, dizziness

by Manysymptons, Jul 20, 2006 12:00AM
Since February 2005 I have experienced numbness in different areas, legs, arms, hands, dizziness, fuzzy head feeling, fast heartbeat.  Can appear for weeks at a time, and then go away for weeks.  I do have neck inflamation.  I have had mri's, cat scans, lumbar x-rays, blood work numerous times, cardiogram, chest x-rays, heart moniter, ekgs, stress tests, two nerve conductor tests by a neurologist, been to the hospital twice in a year from these symptons, blood pressure is fine, used to be on nerve pills, paxil, prozac, etc.  I can't even name all the tests I have taken.  Luckily, nothing has been found, but do not understand why I spend half the time feeling horrible.  I am in my mid-30's, about 120 pounds, so not overweight, eat good.  Any ideas?

Have you been tested for Lyme Disease? If not please do! It may take 3 tests before showing a positve result. The spirochetes are hard to find in a regular blood test.

Hi scarlet37,

Thank you for your response, are you familiar with Lyme disease, I have wondered about this too, but then I hear the doctors usually just don't know for sure.  Do you know what tests are involved?  Thank you for any help, I am beyond frustrated.

I'm currently in the process of seeing a neurologist after many of the symptons you described in the original post. I happen to work with someone who gave me tons of info on Lyme disease as she was diagnosed with it 3 years ago and said that all of my symptoms are exactly what led her to keep searching for an answer. She saw about 5 doctors before seeing a neurologist who did a rare urine culture testing after all blood testing failed to reveal the disease, sure enough it was positive result. She began antibiotics immediately and felt better within days! I'm hopeful to finally have a name to go with my symptoms. I'm 37 years old and feel like i have alzheimers along with all the tingling.I know I'm not dying but life would be easier if I had a name of what I have and understand what I have to do to maintain my healthy lifestyle! There are 2 blood tests that should be done back to back to show the bacteria caused by LD. One is the western blot followed by an IFA both tests measure the amount of bacteria borrelia. It may take 3 times before a positive results apparantly the lil spriochete buggers hide very well.I'm tired of being sick & tired, but i wll NOT give up on being healthy again!

Thank you again Scarlet.  One more questions, do your symptoms come and go?  Mine come every couple of weeks and then disappear.  I hope you get better or find some relief.  It is beyond frustrating I know.  Wish you the best.

YES!! My symptoms come & go too! At first I blamed all of it on my period or pms but the cycle changes everytime these symptoms come about. I started writing on my calender the times when I felt at my worst and it shows a pattern of every 6 to 8 weeks and not necessarily during any specific time of the month.

I'll keep you posted as to how I make out and please do the same. I wish you luck as well. We can't give up when these symptoms interfere with our quality of life, keeep fighting & always smile :)

I went to a new doctor last week, said with all the tests I have had done, I am healthy.  Said its stress, and I should be thankful I am healthy.  I told her I am, but still do not understand why I feel bad all the time.  She had me take more complete blood tests, which I am waiting to see how those come out.  And I am going to see a neurologist, when they call me back to set up the appointment.

How are you doing?

I changed doctors, and she is starting me on b-12 shots once a week, does anyone know how long these take to start noticing a change?

hi all, I kind of glad when I read your comments.  I had all the symptons you mentioned and all tests I had is negative.  I have had mri, numerous blodd test and had 2 miscarriages which my obs put me on a series of tests.  I kind of feel like having flu every day, cannot think propertly, aching and heavy body, numbness and weakness on certain part of body and lately stiffness in my neck.  I kind of frustrated in getting the answers already until I read this forum.  I am seeing my GP again and get test on your suggestions above.  I will keep you guys posted on this.  Thanks for sharing.

I too have been suffering similar symptons to you guys for the past 18 months. So far no one had come up with anything for me either and it is strating to get me down. My Gp put me on anti depressants for 12 months and whilst this helped my state of mind I still have the fuzzy head, tingling feet. buzzing in my ears and I sometimes get numbness in my right little finger and right foot when sleeping. I am going to a neurologist in a couple of weeks so hope to have answers then. I have also done the CAT and MRI scans which have shown nothing. It is so frustrating!!!

Hearing it's stress doesn't make you feel better does it.  It's like taking your car to the shop & having them say, "Your car's fine, it's just been on the road too much."  So you take your car home and it still has the same problem and you're supposed to feel releaved.  I feel for you.  Hope you find the source of your sickness soon.

I have been feeling many of these symptoms since Last year.  I have numb spots on my head sometimes, Neck stiffness, fuzzy head feeling, dizziness, a lot of time i am fatigued.  I get so miserable sometimes I cant even work, or make dinner.  It is really lousy.  I have been to two doctors (the first one wrote it off as anxiety) so I went to the next, we have done 3 cbc tests, an ESR/CRP, Thyroid, Blood sugar...and many more.  I have had 2 CT's, a CT of the Abdomen, an MRI, which showed a slight Chiari 1 malformation, and I am scheduled to have  CSF flow study, but the fluid does not look blocked on the original MRI, so i highly doubt any of my symptoms are due to CSF blockage. i think my back is seriously out of whack, but that would just cause pain??  My main symptom is fuzziness, sometimes hot flashes.  I am getting so frustrated sometimes it is even hard to have fun because i know the next minute i could be feeling lousy again.  I am 31, 5 children, and I am not overweight at all.  I went to my regular DR yesterday, and she said she didnt want to overmedicalize me, and wrote me a script for prozac,,,,???Prozac?  I am a happy person, and the only thing that is emotionalyy weighing on me is my physical state.  ANYONE PLEASE help??
