POSSIBLE SINUS INFECTION?

by sinkandtired36, Aug 24, 2006 12:00AM
WELL i am feeling better since my strep in july but for the past 3 weeks my sinuses been bothering me. at first it was just a tingle on the cheeks but for the past week I had extreme sinus pressure and pain dispite taking ibuprofen. I am not really conjested. I am generally conjested at night. My mucus color when I am well is usually greenish or foggy but with this it is white and thick and clear, maybe a little bloody. I just have constant sinus pain and pressure. I do have white mucus on occasion in the back of my throat. I assume that is post nasal drip. I have no allergies. Should I go backt to the dr or just wait it out. My research on the net shows it is probably just a cold and not bacterial and i should just wait it out but I find it unusual that it seems to be getting worse and not better and its been bothering me for weeks. Any opinions?  Is this just a cold that i need to suffer threw till i am better or should i be on antibiotics? i have no teeth pain, no throat pain, little or no conjestion just intence sinus pressure/pain

my allergist has recommended that i start taking sudafed whenever i begin feeling sinus pressure.  if that doesn't help, you probably need to see your doctor.  i once had a terrible sinus infection that required two medrol packs (prednisone) to reduce the inflammation enough to clear up the infection.  good luck :)

Hi,

You could be having sinusitis or rhinitis. Do you have associated symptoms of cough, wheeze, breathlessness, post nasal drip etc?

You should try steam inhalation, saline nasal drops and oral antihistamine medications for your complaints and see if it helps with the symptoms.

You should see your doctor and get a clinical examination for a diagnosis and to evaluate if any investigations are required including blood tests, chest xray and CT scan of the sinuses.

Are you allergic to any specific substances or have had allergic reactions in the past?

You could read the following link -

Let us now about how you are doing and if you have any other doubts.

Regards.
