streptokinase in tissues

by homehelp, Jun 10, 2007 12:00AM
Hello.
A close friend is in a predicament in hospital. She was given streptokinase and her right hand is swollen and her hand and arm have turned almost black, and green.
The problem started nine days ago after she was admitted to emergency with chest pains and they tried to give her intravenous streptokinase, but the needle was in the tissue and not the vein.
She feels hot inside but shivers from chills.
She is about 70 years of age and up til now has been in relative good health.
However she is anxious about her hand and arm. Her fingertips are white and when the nails are pressed there is pink there. At about her knuckles the dark green starts. There is swelling on the top of her hand, where the needle went in.
Her fingers feel cool, but her arm feels warm to hot.
She is being given intravenous gentamycin and ceptriaxone, also rulide tablets.
In two days she will be given an angiogram.
Can you advise please what treatment is best for her arm- she won't get gangrene will she?
Is an angiogram advisable for her now, in her weakened state, for diagnosing the cause of the chest pain?
What can be done for her to prevent another heart attack?
Thankyou.
