confusion

I am suppose to have a laprascopic biopsy done to find out if I have ovarian cancer.  Ijust want to know what to expect.  Will I be able to go home the same day, how long will it be before they know if it is cancer.  I have been doing research some things say you go home that day and have to wait for  results, and some places say they go in find out while they are in there that it is cancer and then remove what they need to remove at that time so the patient doesn't have to undergo another surgery.  I just want to know what to expect

My first question to you is, who is doing your surgery?  Second is why do they think you may have ovarian cancer?  Have you had an ultra sound, do you have cysts?  Is your Dr. a Gyn/Onc? If not I would recommend that you see one before you have the surgery.  You should have been told more than you know about the surgery if you are having a biopsy for OC at your age.  Ususally at the time of laprascopic surgery a biopsy is done, if it returns cancer the Gyn/Onc would do more extensive surgery to stage the cancer.  Staging determines treatment.  Let me say this one more time, if you haven't seen a Gyn/Onc see one before the surgery, if it is cancer they are the ones that give you the best chance of surviving this disease.  Good luck, give some more details and we can help you more
