can P24 antigen & Hiv antibody Be taken on the 15th Day?

Hi all

I want to ask as i will get a test tom....for Duo...
p24 antigen & Antibody...

I had a low risk exposure on the 1st of May around 5 pm ....and tom is the 15th ... so will it be my 14th day or 15th day?

can i have the above test tom?

pls advice...i am going mad!!

The P24 can, but not the antibody part of the test. The P24 test must be taken before the end of the 3rd week after possible exposure. Now if your exposure were months or years before then the answer is yes. The reasoning is after the body devlopes antibodies the antigens become undectable. Later with HIV infections the antigens reappear and become detectable. It all depends on your testing timeline.

Tom is the 15th os May here in India....and i had the exposure on the 1st of May...
u have read my posts ...pls comment accordingly..

You didn't say that you were think about taking the test. You don't need to test. You need to first have a risk and you didn't. Now if you have had unprotected anal or vaginal sex in the past then testing is not going to hurt being done and it would be a responsible thing to do. The situation you described about yourself. There is no reason what so ever to test over.

BTW - I also took a DUO test  since it checks for ab also.

If you wish to, take the P24 Antigen test now.. Its the right time for the test.
It is going to be negative..

btw- i took the test on the 11th day - Negative

Ur test at 11 days...is also equally efficient as i have read that....p24 antigen take arnd 1 week  to be detected in the test...so 11 days is gud enuff to detect...
did u consult any doctor?wht did he say?

my doctor said that 14 days is enuff for p24 antigen tests......

Yes, My doctor(sex and skin specialist) said 11 days good enough.

Hi .This is Leo .I had unprotected sex on 23 rd of June 2008. Since I had sex with a member of high risk society ,I am worried about HIV infection. I underwent p24 antigen test  & ELISA on 11 th of july 2008.Both the results were negative. My understanding on HIV diagnosis is that either one of these tests should be positive if I m HIV infected .Please let me know if Iam correct . p24 is effective till body produces antibodies againist the infection,Once body produces antibodies,by default the result will be negative . So Is it wise to do both these tests to make sure that I have not been infected with hiv. please advice.

It's wise to take an antibody test at 3 months post exposure.
