Enlarged Right Heart

by kkyu, Jul 20, 2007 01:53PM
I hope someone can help me.  The right side of my heart is abnormally large.  I have had a TEE (esophagus echo) where they concluded the cause is not APVR (misplacement of veins I guess).

My background: I am 30-years old and jog/run ~40 miles/week.  3 years ago, I started to feel lightheaded everytime I run, often around the 2nd mile, but the lightheaded feeling would subside as I continued my run.  I did faint once (2 yrs ago) and was out for 3 min or so I was told.  I did not feel lightheaded until 3 years ago, although I've been running for much longer than that.

My blood pressure is on the low end & my cholesterol is normal.  My heart rate is on the low end - 42 was my last reading 2 days ago.  Sometimes I have some abnormal spikes in my heart rate readings - other times it is normal.

I do not feel any shortness of breath when I exercise.

Does anyone know what could be the most probable cause of my symptoms (enlarged right heart & lightheadedness).  I've been reading up on so many congenital heart disease possibilities but can seem to find one where my symptoms fit right.  I would appreciate any help or advice!  Thanks.
