Lower Back and Leg Pain

by AlanL, Jun 21, 2007 12:00AM
I had an injury in '05 that was thought to be muscle strain  until a x-ray showed disc narrowing in the beginning of '06. An MRI showed that I had herniation and bulging in my L-5 L-6 area. I had an laminectomy / disc. and no improvement. tried Physical Therapy and still no improvement. Went for another MRI that showed herniation and bulging in my L-5 L-6 area still. Went through the same surgery came out worse. Since then I have done P.T. and nerontin and lyrica, still no improvement. Had another MRI this time did not show herniation or bulging in my L-5 L-6 area, but still narrowing. So I had an EMG done witch did not show anything or " came back negative," but I still have the pain and it is getting worse. What would be causing this and is there a fix? I have seen a lot of physiatrist and they have giving me there seal of MMI ( Maximum Medical Improvement. ) But I still have the pain and weakness in my leg and back sometime so bad I can't even get out of bed. My physical activity is very limited because I can not sit or stand for more then 5 minute's at a time and any type of walking is limited to my walker or short distances that I can stop and support my self because I'm " weight bearing on one leg."
