Bulging eyes and strangled feeling around my neck and feeling I was going to faint.

I was sat in a garden centre cafe eating my dinner when I started to feel a strange sensation. My eyes felt as though they were bulging and I had a strangled feeling around my neck, my heart was racing and I felt I was going to faint. I have had a few episodes like this in the last few years. I am a 37yr old female. What could be the cause of this weird sensation?
