hpv and LGSIL

by bissell, Jul 24, 2007 02:12PM
In 2003 when i was pregnant with my daughter I had an abnormal papsmear, I asked the clinics staff what that meant and they told me it was nothing serious and they suggested just to get further testing after my pregnancy. Well two years passed and I recieved a letter to report to the clinic. They told me that I should follow up with a GYN due to my prior abnormal papsmear. When I went to my appointment I was then informed that the abnormality was the HPV virus. The GYN suggested another papsmear, which came out perfectly normal, the same day I recieved the results I found out I was pregnant again, well over a year has passed and I was a little late on my next pap but I got it over with. Now the results came back abnormal again I asked what it was and the nurse told me not to worry. She told me it was again HPV and LGSIL. My doctors on vacation and will not be back in over a month, she scheduled me for an appointment for a biopsy. Does this mean I have cancer should I be worried?

Nope it doens't. don't worry. Same thing happened to me, LSiL  2 x but I wasn't pregnant. I'm pregnant now and went for a colposcopy because thats what they normally do after 2 abnormal paps and it was gone again. LSIL is one of the lowest forms of cell changes and in 70% of cases it clears itself out. They just need to keep checking so that it doesn't turn into higher grade changes. Even then, very very treatable.

Just keep up on your paps always! Never miss them, they're very important. As gross and uncomfortable as they are!!

I have the same problem. I went for a pap and it came back abnormal with LGSIL. I go for a test at the GYN next month also. I Know exactly how you feel!!! My paps have always been normal until I was practically starving myself to lose weight and went for a pap and got abnormal results. Dont worry most people go through this. It is very very popular.
