Priapism from Trazedone - when to resume sexual activity

by tom1958, Jun 17, 2004 12:00AM
Recently took Trazadone and woke up at 5: am with a priapism.

8 hours in the emergency room - needle in my penis - 3 1/2 syringes of gooey blood extracted.

No more Trazadone for me. (sleep aid, my butt!) (sorry)

That was Friday 6/11

Thurs 6/17

No subsequent erections since. There's still some bruising but no pain or infection.

The outer skin of penis and texture back to 90% normal and has almost normal sensitivity, extremely slight numbness.

When can I resume sexual activity?

thanks

I would consult a urologist before determining when it is safe to resume sexual activity.  The time would be dependent on what cause it in the first place.

If there is problems obtaining an erection since the visit to the ER, you may want to consider imaging studies (i.e. an ultrasound) to ensure that the anatomy is intact.  This can be discussed with your urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
