Penis pain, urination weak

by TROPCLAD, Mar 23, 2007 12:00AM
Hi Doc,
Thanks in advance for any help.
This past Wed.3/21 I started to have a weak urine stream. Then yesterday I had trouble urinating at all. Alot of stop & go
I felt like I had to go all day. Penis doesnt hurt but definite discomfort, maybe a little warm, Urine isnt burning to where I feel like i have to stop when it does start.
A few weeks ago my primary dr diagnosed genital warts which i have been putting condylox on the few that where there , i probably have been putting a little more than recomended. Also was tested for herpes at just over 6week mark from last low risk possible transmission. herpes 2 IgG 0.29> ,  herpes 1/2igm 2.3h>, no visible lesions. Urologist said not to worry about herpes, but he didnt know about the 6week mark.
anyway. could this just be UTI, or is it something more serious?
Could it be all in my head ? The big one, not the little one.
In the past few weeks I have taken a good amount of Meprobramate for anxiety, also some ambien to help sleep, mixed in with some Valtrex just in case, as well as the condylox gel. ALSO I have felt exhausted most of the time, but i think thats from the anxiety. Any help would be terrific, thanks.

Infection should certainly be ruled out.  This should include a urine test and urethral swab to rule out STDs.  A rectal exam can be done to palpate the prostate for enlargement or prostatitis.  You can consider a transrectal ultrasound there continues to be suspicion around the prostate.

If the symptoms continue, a cystoscopy can be considered to evaluate for any strictures or blockages in the lower GU tract.

These options can be discussed with your urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
