I am trying to have a baby, but I am concerned

by JoeDoe_, May 04, 2007 12:00AM
For about 2 years I have been having an ache in my groin every single day
On left side initially when it started there was sort of like an electric shock that would travel from my lower back ( left side ) towards my left testicle / groin area .
First I went to the city clinic to get tested for STD’s . ( all were Negative )
Doctor said I possibly have EPI , she gave me shot of penicillin like substance , followed by one pill and also 14 days worth of doxycycline . After that treatment the electrical impulses went away , but slight discomfort in my groin and lower pelvic area was still there . I went to another doctor he gave me another batch of doxycycline for another 3 weeks, than I went to another doctor he gave me 4 weeks of cypro .
The discomfort in the left pelvic and groin / testicle region is still there till this day and.
Still no doctor can tell me what the diagnosis is .
Here is my question :

My wife and I are trying to have a baby and I am deadly afraid that my baby may come Out with some kind of a disease or disorder . Could this be true or not ?
My concern is if I am having an ongoing infection of some sort
Is there any risk of having a baby ? Do I have a good reason to be worried?

Ps. Also if any of these symptoms look familiar to please advise me on what to do .
Thank you in advance.

If there is an STD present, it is unlikely this would lead to a birth defect.

The antibiotic regimen that has been given to you normally would treat the common STDs like gonorrhea or chlamydia.

If the symptoms are still continuing, I would consider looking at the prostate.  A rectal exam and prostatic massage can be done.  Prostate fluid can be sent for analysis and culture.  If an abscess is present, a transrectal ultrasound can be done to image the prostate.

THese options can be discussed with your urologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.
