Change in stool color

I am 24 years old and I was recently put on Fiorinal Cap  Novartis for extremely bad headaches.  I never had headaches like this before and I am assuming that because of the intense pain I passed out.  I had a seizure-like episode and that is when I decided to go to my physician.  Since I have been on the medication my headache has not gone away.  I did notice however, that my stool color has changed to a dark brown to black color and a few spots of blood are occassionally observed after cleansing.  In addition to the change in stool color, I also noted bruising in numerous areas of my body for no particular reason.  Is this a result of the medication?  Should I go back to my physician and inform him of these changes?

I am not sure if it is related to the medication or not but I will tell you that you should see your doctor immediatily. Black stools are a sign of intestinal bleeding, which could account for the blood you see. Headaches could also be caused from a low hemaglobin. You get that when you bleed to much. Please have this checked out right away. Call you doctor and tell him you have black stools and he will see you right away. Did you get your blood checked after you passed out? Please let me know what happens. Dani
