What is the post total Colonectomey life expectancy and quality of life for a 53 year old male. No metastisis.

that would probably be best assessed by your oncologist.  having no colon won't affect life span.  if your rectum is spared but you are needing removal of your whole colon and not just a resection, you might want to check out the j-pouch.org website or search on terms like "ileoanal pull-through" or "ileoanal anastamosis".  if your rectum is involved and will be removed, you might want to check out uoa.org site, lots of good info on all types of ostomies.  there are other surgical options such as the Kock pouch and BCIR (Barnett continent intestinal reservoir).  quality of life can be excellent even without a colon or rectum.
