Hipatitis B Viral DNA

HEP B Viral DNA COPIES/ML: 589632
AST: 24 U/T
ALLT: 22 U/T
Alpha-Fetoprotien tumor marker: 2.2 ng/mL
Liver function: Normal
Do I need treatment for Hepatitis B?

Typically treatment is considered in chronic HBV infection (HBsAg positive for more than six months) who have evidence of active virus replication (HBeAg and HBV DNA positive) and active liver disease (elevated serum ALT concentration and chronic hepatitis on liver biopsy).

It is difficult to answer your question without a liver biopsy.  I would suggest that you discuss whether this is the next step with your gastroenterologist.

Followup with your personal physician is essential.

hi there m 23 years old i have been tested HbsAg positive , HbeAg negative,
hcv negative , my HBV DNA VIRAL LOAD is around 90 000 , my ultrasonic and nuclear ultrasonic liver-spleen reports r absolutely normal, my latest SGOT is 49 , and my SGPT is continously high from last 2 months it is around 114 from last 2 months.Doctor told me its a chronic infection and has advised me 2 undergo
LEVER BIOPSY,and based on tht he will decide wht kind of treatment to give....M REALY TENSED abt lever biopsy and its reports..

We have been referred a child for adoption from China who tested HBsAg positive.
While we are learning about Hepatitis B and her care we are curious as to what to expect regarding her overall health and possible treatment of her Hep B.

She was tested at four months of age.
