Herpes Symptoms

by shrn, Jul 30, 2007 07:55PM
Hi. I've posted once before. I'm in a new relationship with a guy who is hsv-2 positive. I'm negative.  He's on supressive therapy and we use condoms. We've had protected sex 5 times and unprotected oral 2-3 times.  The risk factor, I've been told is 2-4% with condoms and the daily supressive therapy over a year.

I've noticed more itching and burning lately, but no visible lesions or bumps. I'm not sure if it is psychosomatic or something more (checking? worrying?). I guess the question is, if I don't have any visible lesions, do I need to wait 3+ months (I know that's true for the blood test) to be tested or is there any way to test a new infection now?  Perhaps I have lesions that are not visible (to me)?

Last week I had what I thought to be a urinary tract infection. Is there any way to confuse those symptoms? They seem pretty different to me. I treated it with pro-biotics and herbs and it went away within 2 days.
