18q-

by Tamara551, Jul 30, 2007 10:58PM
Anybody have a child with 18q-.  My daughter does and I was looking for others in the same situation.  She is slow on learning.  She has ASD, VSD.  She has great hearing loss.  Had club foot.  She is 10 and her personality is that of a 5 or 6 year old.  She has reached that age where kids are making in fun of her and she is starting to cry herself to sleep at night because of it.  I just want others experiences.  She is getting more and more difficult to deal with her problems.  I understand she could be a lot worse and my heart goes out to all who have to go through it.

Hello, I have a two year old daughter-Zosia who has "18q-". Her psycho-motor development is pretty poor, that is of a 3-4 month-year-old baby. She has a severe hypoplasia of cerebellum ( which happens with kids with this syndrome) and because of that her muscle tone is incredibly low. I recommend that you enroll for Chromosome 18 Research and Registry Society in San Antonio and than you could join the listserve which is a fantasic source of information for parents of 18q- kids.
