Premature Infants with Bradycardia

by jt, Sep 02, 1999 12:00AM
First of all i would like to tell you what a wonderful website you have and how very helpful you are. I have one question, My daughter who is 9 now was born 3wks early and sent home on a heart monitor for one year due to bradycardia or apena i don't know if there is a difference. She has really never been to the doctor for any reason, she does get colds and the flu quite easily but you kinda have to let that work it's course. what i would like to know is if she would have a chance of having any heart problems in the future from having that as an infant or is she likley to out grow that. Thank you for your time.

thank you for your question.  It is unlikely that your daughter will have any sequelae form her bradycardia at birth.  This is related to her prematurity and should not cuase further problems.
