allergy to sulfa

by belladonna, Jun 16, 2001 12:00AM
I've known I was allergic to sulfa ever since I was 6 or so(it makes me break out in a bad rash), but I just recently found out that it's in antibacterial soaps. Up until then, I used dial my whole life, but I don't know what I should use now. I either need to know the names of bodywashes I can use, or the names of the sulfa ingredients I can't use, as they would be listed on the products.

Topical sulfur is not the same as sulfa.  Tis is relevant to acne medicine containig sulfur or sulfacetamide.  If you were allergic to Dial (and by the way, I don't know which sulfur this has), you would have been breaking out in rashes or worse all along.

In other words, continue Dial-ing if you want.

Best.

I HAVE JUST BEEN DIAGNOSED WITH LICHEN PLANTUS WHICH I HAVE NEVER HEARD OF BEFORE. DO YOU HAVE ANY IDEAS ON WHAT COULD OF CAUSED THIS. I HAVE BEEN GIVEN A STEROID SHOT AND BEEN RX A CREAM, BUT THE DOCTORS SAY IT MAY TAKE A MONTH OR TWO TO GO AWAY. I WOULD LIKE TO KNOW WHAT CAUSES IT SO I DON'T GET IT AGAIN?
