Rash - Groin

Couple of weeks ago, I noticed a little bit of dry flaky skin on the crease from my right leg to groin.  It was minor at best.

About 7 days ago I noticed a little redness, started using neosporin and it didn't seem to do much, but more redness came.  Then about 3-4 days ago it just seemed to get worse, more redness, some small white pustules that went away with warm soap water and a wash cloth.  There is some itching and the area is also a bit warm to the touch.  So I switched to hydrocortisone for the past few days and it seems to have made it worse.  Right now I am doing that best medicine practice of doing nothing.  I use to have an on again and off again folliculitis couple of years ago, but this came on fast and is not typical of what I remember.

There does not seem to be any other spots on my body.  Also seems to have flared up too fast for something fungal or folliculitis, etc.  The very mild dry flaky skin may not be even related to this.  This seems isolated.  What do you think?

You were right, he gave me a cream and the infection is practically gone.  Thanks.

Lamisil treats fungus, not yeast.  There is a pill called fluconazole, but you'll need to know for sure what you have before using that.

I picked up Lamsil for jock itch and started yesterday.  It says I only need to do this for one week.  Don't they have an oral fungal pill that will just knock this out?

I'm not sure, but would suspect a yeast infection (redness plus pustules.)  Why not set up an appointment with a skin doctor, but meanwhile use an over-the-counter yeast medicine like clotrimazole 1%.  Most yeast infections are not caught from other people--yeasts live in the gut and sometimes seed moist areas.

Take care.

Actually, given its in the crease of my leg and groin, given it didn't respond to bactricin or hydrocortisone or they made it worse, plus it does itch...sounds like jock itch?
