Red/Pink area above penis area

by SWD23, Aug 21, 2005 12:00AM
Hello,

I'm a 30 year old male that has noticed a reddish/pink(mostly pink) area approximately three inches directly above my penis at the top of where my pubic hair ends.  It has been there for about two months with absolutely no pain or itching.  It almost looks like a pink birth mark.  As far as the size is concerned, it is slighly larger than the size of a quarter.  It is not raised.  I have read through several forum Q and A's and it doesn't sound like anything in particular.  I had tinea cruris approximately 10 years ago in the upper thigh area on both sides near the scrotum which has about the same color.  However, there is no distinct ring, no pain, and no itching like the tinea cruris.  It simply is a pink patch with no distinct lining around it.  I haven't purchased any over the counter products yet as there has been no itching, etc.  The only thing that I notice is that it gets slightly darker after a work out or when I sweat, but again, no itching or pain.  I would really appreciate some input as to what I should try first....What you think this may be? and what can I do to cure whatever the heck this is?  Since it has been two months I think it is time to act now.  Thank you so much.

I can only guess--it sounds like redness left over from some irritation.  I can't think of any diseases this reminds me of.  Redness can last a long time.  I advise you to leave it alone.  If it changes or persists (another month), let a doctor take a look.

Best.
