LIP PIMPLE

by millaw, May 21, 2006 12:00AM
Hi Dr. Rockoff. Thank you for being a source of comfort for so many.  Query:  Is it possible to get pimples on the upper and lower lip and have them NOT be herpes/cold sores?  Every now and again I get a pimple on my lip, sometimes on my lower lip and sometimes on my upper lip.  No clustering or blistering or any precursor tingling. Just a regular pimple with a whitehead.  I also get angular cheilitis in both corners of my mouth (not at the same time) at varying times (not sure if this is relevant but just a little background info.).  Worried that these pimples are evidence of Herpes.  Thank you.

They probably are just pimples, especially since they occur on both the upper and lower lips.  I guess for complete assurance you'd need to see a doctor when they're fresh (or maybe take a good photo to show someone.)  But they don't sound like cold sores.

Best.
