Jock itch? Rash will not go away! Help!

Here’s my long story somewhat shorter.  In early March of this year I began taking Doryx (Doxycycline), an antibiotic, for mild acne.  In late march I ended up with a jock itch like rash.  It took a couple weeks to grow to its full size and unless I don’t put an antifungal powder on it, it will stay the same size etc.  If I do not put anything on it, it will spread down my inner thigh as it has done to some degree in the pictures, itch/burn etc.  I have also from time to time noticed small round circles on my hip, stomach area, etc that seem to resemble something like ringworm.  However these go away quickly with treatment.



I have been prescribed:



Clotrimazole and Betamethosone Dipropionate Cream

Ketocanazole 200mg pills (10)



And now a topical steroid called Mometasone furoate.



The first two did nothing, the last I have yet to use since from what Ive read it seems to be a bad idea.  I mentioned the doryx at the beginning because I have read antibiotics can promote fungal infections since it kills off all the bacteria that keep them away.  



Does this look / sound like a fungal infection or could it be bacterial (euthrasia? Sp?).  I’m running out of ideas and have tried just about every otc medicine there is.  As of today I am going to stop taking the doryx and see what happens.  Any other ideas?  Anything would be greatly appreciated!

It does not look or sound like fungus.  As near as I can make out, the changes on the skin come from the use of strong steroids (like the one in Clotrimazole and Betamethasone Di propionate Cream).  I think you should stop all medications and use powder and moisturizer only.  Then consult a dermatologist for more precise diagnosis and recommendations.

I have the all the exact same symptoms he has, and I found that it REALLY, REALLY hurts like ******* hell a day after I shave. It there any way to keep this secret from people, but still get treatment? I would apprecate it, thanks.

I have been having a similar problem. I have itching, peeling and skin discolouration on areas of my scrotum and underside of my penis. I have been to two doctors. The first one geve me a single pill and Clotrimaderm (1% HC PWD) cream. It helped for a bit, but the problem came back even more a few years later. I went to the second doctor who told me it is a fungus and gave me Lamisil cream to use which hasn't helped. I don't know what to do at this point and need some advice.
