Red Bumps

by NotSure1814, Oct 18, 2006 12:00AM
I noticed red bumps on the front of my thighs in July after being in the heat all day umpiring baseball.  The bumps have continued to come and go.  The bumps rarely itch, however, occasionally (1) will grow larger and remain there for a couple of weeks.  The majority of the bumps are small and red in color.  I have since noticed similar bumps on my chest, shoulders, and occasionally around my elbows.  The bumps around my front shoulders itch occasionally, but only briefly.  I have had an extreme problem with acne approximately 10 years ago and took Accutane.  The bumps arrived all at once and have not left.  What could they be?  I am a 27 year old male.

My best guess is that this is folliculitis, or blocked pores. They can come spontaneously, or after sweating, etc.  They mostly don't need to be treated, and subside eventually on their own.  If they stay around more than 2-3 more weeks, have someone take a look at them.  Best to leave them alone--no scratching etc.

Best.
