hair loss

I have recently been seeing a dermotogist for my hair loss problem. I have been lossing my hair for quite sometime. He recently gave me a series of cortizone shots in my head. I went to my hairdresser whom had been doing my hair for years and he commented on the crater type spots in my head where the injections had been made. I have also been very tired lately and not myself. I feel like this is not normal. Is it?

The craters are undoubtedly atrophy (skin-thinning) from the cortisone injections.  This is temporary and likely to fill in over the next 6 months.  I can't see any connection between your tiredness and either the hair loss or the craters--little cortisone is absorbed.

Whether you need steroid shots is another question.  They are used for alopecia areata, which produces smooth, round bald spots.  This doesn't sound like what you have.  I think you need a more definitive diagnosis.  Perhaps another opinion with a specialist in hair disorders at a medical center might be worth considering and discussing with your current dermatologist.

Best.
