eyebrow regrowth

by blue24, Jun 27, 2007 12:00AM
i am 24yrs and suffer from trichotillomania. within the last nine years i have probably plucked all my brows out six or seven times(including now)! overall they seem to bounce back, a little bit wiry but full. between the accidents i do not regularly groom them though. i want/NEED for this to be the last time and was wondering if in all honesty you think they will grow back this time? any tips? should i consider going to a dermatologist to see if the follicles are permanently damaged (because i hear that can happen over time and stop growth)?

It's not likely that the follicles are permanently damaged, no matter how many times you yank the hairs out.  For you, the key is to get the help you need to stop tanking them.  A visit to a psychiatrist or behaviorally-oriented psychologist is where I would go if I were you.  medications may help, as well as behavioral techniques.  Dermatologists don't have much to offer here.

Best.
