Gonorrea diagnosis

Many thanks for your responses.

Recently I had a sexual encounter with a pros. We did use a condom. However, during the intercourse, I took off the condom for her to masturbate me. While doing it, she used her spit (by directly spitting on my penis) to lubricate the motion. About 10-20 seconds of this, I put on a new condom without washing her spit off and continued intercourse until I ejaculated.

About 3 days after that, I started to have a white discharge in the morning. No pain during or after urination. Slight penile pain along the shaft. Today, after the 6th day, I had a Diret Gram Stain exam done on my morning discharge. They did not see the Nesserium Gornorea bacteria, but they did see ROD and COCCI present. Doctor said, there is bacteria but not gonorrea. My urine sample has blood traces in it. My question:

1) Can I get gonorrea from her spit?

2)Is the test method and results reliable in diagnosing gonorea? The doctor said I dont have gonorrea but I'm skeptical/worried.

3) My wife has this recurring bacteria vaginal infection and was suppose to get treatment. She had a course of antibiotics but never finished them. She had a recurrence two days after my visit to the pros. ( I also had intercourse with my wife later on after the visit to the pros). Is it possible that she got her recurring bacteria re-infection and I got bacterial infection from her, resulting in the white discharge?

5) Other than gonorrea, what could cause white discharge?

6) Can I get HIV from the pros via her spit?

I have regretted this beyond sanity.

You almost certainly did not acquire an STD from the exposure you describe.  But if you had an abnormal discharge that was documented by the provider who examined you, then you may have nongonococcal urethritis--but it would have had to be acquired elsewhere.  Everyone has some bacteria in the urethra that can be seen by gram stain.  However, you should have lab tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia, not just a gram stain, which can miss many infections.

If you are not confident about the STD knowledge of your doctor, consider a visit to your local health department STD clinic.

Specific answers to your questions:

1) No.

2) No, a gram stain alone isn't enough.  You need urine tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia.

3) It sounds like your wife has bacterial vaginosis. The cause isn't clear; some cases of BV may be sexually acquired, others not.  BV in women does not cause symptoms or problems in their male partners.

4) See above.

5) No.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

Doc I had a breif oral experience, 30 seconds of cunnilingus and 30 sec of oral from her.  Ive had no symptoms and based on your previous posts should be ok.  Here is the problem.  3 weeks After wife has that fishy smell first time ever and in a recent mammogram a swollen lymph node in her breast.  I havent been screened for anything.  Should I fess up or is this likely unconected. BTw the woman I was with says she was recently screened for all STDS and was clean, (who knows)
