About 9 days ago I had unprotected sex with a woman. 3 days after, I went to the doctor to get tested. I was tested with the cotton swab for Chlamydia and Gonorrhea. The results came back negative. About 3 days ago I woke up with a small bead of clear yellow fluid on the tip of my penis. And, I always have the urge to urinate. It only apears in the morning, and this morning it apeared after I milked it. I spoke to a nurse yesterday, and she said that if I had anything the test would have caught it. After reading a few postings I realize that the mind can play a lot of tricks on a person when they feel nervous or anxious. And, I really don't want to waste my doctors time if I'm just overreacting.



So, I guess I have a few questions-



1. I was wondering if she is correct in saying that the results are accurate?

2. Is 3 days after the fact too early to get tested?

3. Is it all in my head, meaning Anxiety etc.?

The nurse you spoke with is wrong; the negative tests don't necessarily mean you aren't infected with something.  If you're having abnormal discharge from the penis, you have urethritis--inflammation of the urine passage.  It is an STD.  Your negative tests for gonorrhea and chlamydia make it likely you have nonchlamydial NGU (nongonococcal urethritis).  However, depending on what test the doctor did, the result might not have been accurate, and chlamydia in particular remains a fair bet.



You need an antibiotic, probably azithromycin or doxycycline; and perhaps re-testing for gonorrhea and chlamydia.  I can't tell whether the nurse's limited knowledge about STDs also reflect's your doctor's understanding of STDs.  If in doubt, consider a second opinion at your local health department STD clinic.  If possible, plan to visit the clinic early in the morning, before you urinate for the first time; that will give the provider a better chance of seeing the abnormal discharge.



The woman you were exposed to also needs to be examined.

Is discharge considered discharge only if it comes out on its own?  A couple of weeks after testing negative for chlamydia 3 times and testing negative for for gonorrhea once, but still receiving 2g zithromax and a week of doxycycline, I noticed that if I milked my penis a fluid that was sometimes clear and sometimes cloudy (esp. after not urinating for a while) would be expressed.  I would consider myself overly aware and I've never noticed any involuntary discharge, though a doctor did notice some tiny white flakes in the area of the opening.  He agreed that after the negative tests and the antibiotics I had it was probably not gonorrhea or chlamydia.  Especially since my last exposure was unprotected oral in early February.  But he is one of the doctors that insists you can get chlamydia from oral sex, and gonorrhea quite easily.  But he did prescribe me 30 days of levaquin.



I've been obsessed with what this is.  The couple of days preceeding noticing the cloudy discharge I probably milked my penis over 50 times each day.  Not smart, I know, but its like I had O.C.D. and couldn't help it.  The doctor also said that my urethral opening is lower than normal (hypospadia?), the opening is towards the base of the meatus rather than at the tip.  Can I be causing this cloudy "discharge" (which only happens with milking) with too much attention given my negative tests and my antibiotic history?  I was also 2 days into 10 days of doxycycline when I received the unprotected oral sex.  The doctor theorizes that since the opening is lower, it is closer to the glands and a broader area in my urethra tube itself that might make such glandular fluid more easily expressed.

ronatator:  Non-sexually acquired urethritis is very rare in men, unless there has been urinary tract surgery or instrumentation.



jackruby:  Such frequent massaging of the penis can indeed cause discharge and other urethritis symptoms.  Stop it.

I was retested, and treated with a bunch of antibiotics. I'll find out for sure what it is in a day or two.



My girlfriend comes in town today. Is it safe to have sex with a condom? The doc said no sex until my meds are gone.
