Molluscum appearance.

by jonathon882001, Jun 30, 2005 12:00AM
I had a lesion under my navel for a long time now and then I broke out in my groin area with molluscum for 2 1/2 months now, some disappear while others appear. The small ones look like dots, doc said there molluscum, will these small ones grow before they disappear? I am trying to let them disappear on their own, how long will it take exactly for them to be gone on their own? Does this depend on your body? Once they are gone, can i get them again later on in life or catch them from someone else again. When they start disappearing does this mean my body is building immunity? The one on my navel been there for a long time without growing or going away, why? while others appear/dissappear.

my wife has a molluscum lesion in the back where her thigh meets her buttocks. I am really scared because i gave this to her.. If she leaves this alone can it go away without causing other lesions to grow around the area like mine did? It doesnt have a white core in the middle or anything but looks like a lesion that i still have now. If you get one moluscum lesion does that mean after a while she will break out with more the way i did, or is it possible for her to get just one and then go away without causing others to appear.

If she gets this one frozen does this guarantee she will not get other lesions later on the way i did?

If we make love will it give us more molluscum or since we have it then this doesnt increase our chances of breaking out with more? if the lesion doesnt have a white core is it still contagious?

any advice would help alot, thank you!!

All those questions have been answered in other threads about molluscum within the last month.  Search the current threads and archives.  Briefly, it seems you first need to see a provider to see if molluscum is what you have.  If so, you should be treated; don't just wait for the lesions to resolve on their own.

But you'll need to look at the other threads for more detail.  Sorry; I don't have the time to spend several minutes re-typing the same stuff.  I hope you understand.

Good luck--  HHH, MD

it would really help me alot if you took the time to help me out personally with the questions that i have. doc told me i have molluscum in the groin area and now my wife has one as well. looks exactly what i have below my navel its a pink lesion with no lesion. can you provide some advice. if we let the one lesion she has go away on its own, does this mean she will definetly break out with more lesions..

if she gets that one lesion what are the chances of more lesions appearing?

An online forum isn't a substitute for health care from your own provider.  It isn't my job or that of the forum to answer all questions a person has about his specific case, especially when they have been asked and answered previously.  Ask your health care provider to confirm the diagnosis and advise what treatment is best; that's the person to then ask about side effects and which treatment is best for you and your wife.

One question please thats it.

If my wife freezes this one molluscum she has what are the chances of her breaking out with more? If it gets removed i understand theres a less chance it will spread, is this true> is it possible to just get one molluscum w/out getting any other breakouts?

Thank you very much for your time.

No way to tell.  She could get additional lesions.

I deleted your new post; you are abusing the system.  Any more duplicate new questions and you'll be blocked from any posts at all in the forum.

im not trying to abuse it sorry. but the question i am asking hasnt been answered yet which is. since you stated that most hpv infections are cleared by the iimmune system, does this mean once its cleared it wont show symptoms of hpv and pap test will be normal again> and is it possible for hpv to clear w/out showing symptoms

thanks doc
