Left testicle, leg, and buttocks pain

by nnrc, Jul 29, 2005 12:00AM
I'm a 27 yo male who is who has been experiencing intermittant pain in left testicle, leg, lower abdomen, and buttocks.  Onset was sudden.  These symptoms began 2.5 months ago.  Blood, urine, swab tests came back negative for any STD (I have not engaged in sexual activity in over 6 months).  My PCP thought it was epididymitis, so he prescribed Floxicin for 10 days-pain did not subside.  This was followed up by two hernia examinations that were negative.  I began to notice that the pain in these areas would increase following running or situps.  So I went to see a sports physician.  X-ray and MRI were unremarkable for strain, growths, impingement, etc in leg, hip, and lower abdomen.  I'm now back to thinking that this is epididymitis and that I didn't take Floxicin long enough to see results.  I'm not sure what I should do next?  What do these symptoms sound like? Thanks-NNRC

I don't have an explanation for your symptoms.  Clearly not an STD of any kind, both because of your sexual history and that no STD causes the sort of symptoms you describe.  Epididymitis doesn't just cause testicular pain, but testicular enlargement and marked tenderness to touch.

Sorry I can't help further.  Good luck--  HHH, MD

I have had similar pain and experience for a few years.  I was afraid a few years ago that it was an STD.  It was not.  I had all kinds of tests and exams.  Dr. thought enlarged prostate.  I went to a urologist and he said that was not it.  I finally noticed that it seemed to hurt more when I carried my wallet in my back pocket, which was almost all of the time.  I stopped doing that and got quite a bit of relief, altough it still hurts from time to time.

I had groin pain, leg pain, random numbness, etc in those areas for like 3-4 months,  went to a few doctors,  no one could find anything.   Then I decided to get a seat cushion for my office chair and then everything went away in like 2-3 days.   Might want to try a cushion when doing situps for sitting for a long time.

To NNRC: I read your posted question amd found that I have had similar symptoms. I am 18 and and have had that type of pain for a few years now on and off. I was wondering if you have had any progress in identifying what the cause was since it wasn't STDs or hernia. Was it epiditimitis?

Update:  I've now been to another urologist and had an ultrasound done on my scrotum.  Results showed one "very tiny" epididymal cyst on my left testicle.  Everything else was fine.  I was then recommended to see a general physicina b/c the urologist said the cyst could not be the cause of the pain.  The urologist was dumbfounded and suggested that it could have something to do with the inguinal nerve that passes through abdomen and could cause pain both in the scrotum and inner thigh.  I'm still in pain and very concerned.  This has disrupted most of the activities in my life. Does anyone have any other ideas for solutions? Help.

I am experiencing simliar symptoms. It is getting worse and the pain is moving into my leg. I see a chiropractor regularly and he told me (before it got worse over the past couple days) that it was being caused by my nerves being pinched. I have an appt with him tomorrow and am going to grill him with questions tomorrow. If I am not satisified I am going to immediatly seed an MD to find out what is going on. I am sorry to hear that someone else is going through this. It is getting to the point where it is difficult to function in public. Keep me posted and I will keep you posted.

Hey,

I've had these EXACT symptoms for the past while and i've been afraid to go to a doc. to get checked out( i know, i know). But I must say, i'm extreamly relieved to have not seen the word cancer mentioned in this thread. I recently had a friend pass away from leukemia and I had it in my head that my symptoms could be the result of some sort of cancer. I'm not throwing the possibility out the window, it's just somewhat of a relief. But what the hell could be causing this? I have pain in my testicles...mainly my left, but sometimes both, lower back pain, pain in my abdomen and hips and sometimes in my legs and groin. I work a pretty physically demanding job and it always seem to "flare up" after working a shift. Also, some one mentioned something about sitting for extended periods. 90% my job involves driving a forklift through a very bumpy yard and i'm constantly bouncing around. Could this be a possible cause? Anyhoo, any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Doug

this is a bit of relief for me as well as i have been experiencing similar pain...I have always had lower back pain, but recently after a long road trip my back was the worst it´s been and after a few massages i have experienced testicular pain, in the groin, down the legs, and in the buttock...I´m sexually active and have been very worried about STD´s and such...Could this just be a pinched nerve or something of this matter???It´s been a month now and it´s still going strong...Any information would be appreciated...

Hey everyone in this group. I've had lower back problems for the past 25 years. there have been times when I would twist a certain way and my left testicle would hurt so bad that I couldn't even walk right. after a couple of years of putting up with this I found if I twisted my back like when you put your hands on your hips and twist the top part of your body and let it swivel at the hips the pain would go away. later in life I hurt my back by working in landscaping and I went to a chiropracter and he shared with me that the third vertibre also housed nerves that went to my reproductive system etc. i am also right now enduring a left testicle soreness and it is also coming with lower back pain. I too am one that dislikes going to any doctor because I've recieve more hurt than help from them. I've researched a little on the web and have found out that cancer is not painful in the testicles but any lump or bump should be checked out. I had a friend that just told me the other day that he had testicle pain too and believe it or not he too has had some lower back pain lately. I hope this helps and I'll check back to see if anyone has found help
