What are the risks?

6 months ago I recieved oral sex with someone other than my long term partner.  This lasted for about 2 minutes possibly (she had a tounge ring if thats relevant)...I went on to have unprotected sex with my partner.  Exactly 2 weeks to that day she (long term partner) complained of flu like symptoms - fever, general feeling of illness, and stomach ache.  I asked her if it felt like pressure in the groin and she said it felt like she ate something bad.  This lasted for about 24 hours before the symptoms started to subside but when they did she noticed a small, pimple looking sore on her genitals that she said hurt her like a cut.  During this time she noticed itchiness, increased "wetness, moistness", and a stronger than usual smell.  All these symptoms started to subside within 24-36 hours hours and within 36-48 hours were pretty much gone.  At this time after her symptoms (2 weeks post incident) - I was tested negative for all STD's except my previous HSV-1 antibodies.

I have ruled out an HSV infection because I was already tested positive long before for HSV-1.  She has had since an occasional boil on her inner thigh but these leave scars and I suspect may have something to do with Hidradenitis Suppurativa as she has gotten some small ones under her arms too and displays some symptoms of PCOS/Insulin Resistance.

I am still concerned about the appearance of the fever/sore/itchiness/moisture 2 weeks after the incident with the other woman.  Even though this subsided - it seems to me like this symptoms are consistent with some kind of infection entering her body.  MY questions are:

1)  What could the fever/sore/symptoms have been?  Do you think they were related to the incident 2 weeks prior?

2)  Is it possible she got some kind of initial genital infection which, even though symptoms subsided, could still have put her at risk for PID which is now "silent".

3)  Could the initial infection have been some kind of NGU which would then put her at risk for PID?

4)  Is she at risk for PID based on what ive told u and would this be connected to the incident?

5)  Could the incidence have done anything which would contribute to an initial Hidradenitis Suppurativa boil?

5)  Is she at risk for anything based on the incident?

6)  If not, what could have caused the symptoms i described if not some kind of vaginal infection which could give her PID or some other long term consequences?  I am worried somehow the incident and the subsequent symptoms could put her at risk for infertility

7)  Is it possible to have symptoms like i described harmlessly...for instance - is it possible to get a small genital sore/moisture/itchiness from simply having a 24 hour fever or flu?

Thank you so much for all your help.

There is no STD you could have acquired during the event you describe that could have caused the symptoms you describe for your regular partner.  Sounds to me like she caught a garden-variety, non-sexually transmitted infection that has nothing to do with your indiscretion.  If she is concerned about her symptoms (not if you are concerned, only if SHE thinks she is sick), she should see a health care provider.

1) I have no idea what is causing her symptoms, except it is not an STD related to your oral sex exposure.  2) No.  3) No.  There are no known adverse health outcomes from NGU acquired by oral sex, and there is no evidence you acquired NGU anyway.  4) No.  5) No, there is no possible relation to exacerbation of hidradenitis.  Second 5) No.  6) I haven't a clue.  7) Not that I know of.

Your partner isn't at risk from your oral sex event.  Let it go.

Good luck---  HHH, MD

I forgot to mention - since i tested negative for syphillis/ghonnorea 2 weeks later - is it possible this was too early and or a false negative and her symptoms were an early stage 1 syphillis and could now be silent and contribute to PID/infertility?

The additional information doesn't change my assessment.  There is no risk for any of those things.  If someone has gonorrhea or chlamydia, his/her test results always are positive within a couple days of being infected.  And you can't get chlamydia from oral sex.

Thanks so much for all your help.

If this was a garden variety infection as you suspect, not sexually transmitted but possibly entering through her genitals - is there a possibility that it could lead to PID?
