Water

by LegalBeagle, Jul 31, 2007 09:19AM
My nurse is not in for another hour or so, so I thought I'd post this here.  I am drinking at least 48 - 64 ounces of water a day.  But my urine output is very small and is very yellow.  I don't seem to be retaining water...I'm not bloated or swelling.  Today my wedding ring wouldn't go on, but I'm not too concerned because it has been getting tighter and I have gained 20 pounds (I'm 25w2d).  I don't have a fever or chills.  Has this happened to anyone else?  I just don't get why if I'm drinking so much water I'm not urinating more often.

This same thing happened to me.  It had to do with my sodium intake.  The daily recommended amount of sodium is 2400 mg - I was up to about 6000 mg.  I did not think that I had retained too much water either, but, indeed, this was the problem.  By 18 weeks - I had gained 25 pounds.  I started cutting back (on the advise of my dr.) my sodium intake, and I dropped 10 pounds of just water weight in a couple days.  I need to mention, I am 40 years old and 20 weeks pg - so, my body does not operate the same as if you are in your 20's or early 30's.

Just and option you may want to discuss with your nurse or dr.
