surgery?

by marilyn, Dec 05, 1999 12:00AM
dear dr mee I've never thanked you for answering my E-MAIL.  I know you wanted to help me if you could.  Last month I landed in the emergency room with chest pain.  My ecg read; normal sinus rhythm, left atrial enlargement, rightward axis, incomplete right bundle branch block and nonspecific ST and T wave abnormality. It went on to say, T wave inversion V2to V4 with flat ST segment I, aVl, V5 and V6  May be consistant with anterolateral ischemia. No comparison available. Well, I looked at the ecg before the repair and it looks similar. since I have an intra atrial aneurism and a residual shunt, I am at risk for a stroke, which I feel Is close, because of the symptoms I am having blurred vision, ringing in my ears, and headaches.  I am not on anticoagulants only aspirin.  The cardiac MRI I had showed an enlarged heart rt atrial and rt dilatation and severe hepatomegaly with elevated lipids and total cholesterol 320. the liver panel is normal with low cl and elevated bun probably it is the two diuretics I take for the liver congestion.  my question is; Would surgery to repair the aneurysm be possible since I do not have progressive pulmonary hypertension or would cardiomyapothy deter the surgeon from operating? Do I have to wait till a stroke happens? thankyou for being out there MCC

Dear Marilyn,

you may want to directly email this to Dr. Mee.

surgery to repair this aneurysm would be possible.  This should be evaluated by your surgeon.
