Skipped beats and wide pulse pressure

by Maureen, Mar 12, 2001 12:00AM
I recently had a CardioVision Test done.  The results showed a BP of 103/24 and skipped beats.  The test was done three times to confirm.  I also showed an ASI of 391.

I have a history of Neurally mediated hypotension.  I also had a craniectomy cranioplasty and duraplasty for a chiari malformation.  My Neurosurgeon and I have been hopeful that the Neurally Mediated Hypotension would improve after surgery. It has been almost 8 months since surgery.

Immediately after surgery whilein the hospital, I had wide pulse pressures like the one above.  My neurosurgeon was concerned and I saw a cardiologist when out of the hospital.  It was decided that this pulse pressure occured after the trauma of surgery.

Now I am worried about the skipped beats and BP.  There is a history of heart disease in my family.

Thank you,

Maureen

That is a low diastolic blood pressure, if the measurement is indeed accurate. You should have your cardiologist repeat the measurement and see if it is really that low and see if the skipped beat represent an arrhythmia.

I also have skipped beat's,  but im an average 25 yr old guy that

really dosent do that much that may cause me harm! It seems that when im at rest, my heart "at times" seems to go crazy,  its skip's beats really bad lately, and at times i grab for my heart cause i really think that something has gone wrong! But every time i see my doctor,  they cant detect anything! these day's it seems to get worse by the month and its really starting to bother me! if they cant detect a bad heart or whatever it may be,  then what should i do?  what is it that causes this?

I suffer skipped beats and occasional tachycardia. I have taken tests almost my whole life ane they are all negative. I have no family history, but I do suffer from some anxiety and I also have a bicuspid aortic valve. Is there any way to be sure that these are benign... doctors always say they are USUALLY nor life threatening, but in my anxious state, how can I be sure?? Any suggestions? Thanks! jimmyb
