Racing heart and high Blood pressure

Im 36 years old and almost a year ago this june after a fishing trip I got sick, I had diarreha for 5 days but was taking Imodium for control for the whole time. Second day back to work I sat down to eat lunch and swallowed my first bite and felt it go all the way down, about the area of my heart as it passed my heart it kind of did a slow beat and then started racing and i started sweating. I felt really strange and went to the ER, Im
6' 175 and my colesterol is 119. Anyway, They took blood
hooked me up to an EkG and came back with a conclusion of dehydration and anxiety. They gave me an Iv of fluids and I felt fine but weak. My pulse and BP went back to normal. Since this episode I get Palpitations pretty often or at least notice them now. My PCP did a complete work up, Comprehensive Metabolic,
thyroid stool, sugar and urine to see why I had the Diarrea. All came back normal. So he sent me to a Gastro and he did the Camera from behind test... anyway he said i was healthy from his point of view and probably ate or drank something. Well since then Im kind of back to normal except for the Palps and was wondering if I should get more testing? My father died at 52 from
a Heart attack. I also get sharp chest pains but they feel like there on the outside of my rib cage. Sorry for babbling but I now have it in my head I've got a heart problem. Oh yeh My father was 5'-8 over weight by about 30 pounds and smoked and had high blood pressure . I do not smoke or have High BP Mines always around 115/75 when resting. Thanks

Hi out there. My name is Jim and was just recently diagnosed with Atrial Fibrallation.
It was quite a blow considering I have been healthy and active all my life. I am now taking medications Digoxin and Metoprolol.
This is quite a blow since I dont even like taking aspirins. I was just wondering if exercise is still beneficial. As I read more on this my condition sounds so fatal and hopeless. Will I ever get off these drugs and if so what can I expect. Depression has set in as it said it would. I am trying to keep a upbeat attitude about this but its hard. After all I am only 41yrs of age. Thank you for listening!

And at the ER my O2 level was 97% with the oximeter. They said I was very close to having bad things happen because I was so dehydrated. I just can't remember the word they used.

Dear greg,
It's hard to say for sure what kind of palpitations you are experiencing.  Many people have PVCs and you can find other postings in this forum concerning this topic.  The best test to look for rhythm disturbances is called an event recorder.  This is worn until you have the palpitations and then you press a button to record the heartbeat at the time.  You are at an increased risk for heart disease given your family history but you have greatly reduced your risk by avoiding tobacco and keeping your weight under control.
